The Sleepover Book is a manual for planning a sleepover party for girls aged 9 to 12. Suggestions begin with preparty planning and continue through theme possibilities, games, and things to do, such as beauty fun and crafts. The book ends with a series of recipes for dinner with items such as nachos, chili pasta, pizza cakes, desserts, or breakfasts, including smoothies and wraps. The information is well presented with lots of headings, boxes, a table of contents and index so that readers looking for specific games or food by name should be able to locate what they are looking for. The recipes are written both in metric and American measures and are simple enough that most 10-year-olds should be able to succeed. The illustrations are cartoon like in blues, grays and yellows and will appeal to the intended audience. The Sleepover Book is a very complete review of sleepovers, and, once girls have permission, they should be able to independently plan their own party as lots of lists with check offs are provided. Libraries needing party planners will find this book a useful addition for the pre-teenagers. Recommended. Meredith
