Bachelor Of Commerce Business Luncheon 2011
Your academic year will begin on Tuesday, September 6th with the Bachelor of Commerce Business Luncheon hosted by the Associates of the I. H. Asper School of Business at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Winnipeg. At this event you will get to know your classmates, professors and members of the Associates.
Your hosts at this event will be members of the Associates, consisting of over 250 senior business leaders from Manitoba and Canada. The Associates are a unique external group who share the School’s commitment to excellence in business education. This event will introduce you to the mentors, employers, and role models, who will play a major role in your professional future.
Alumnus Laurie Kepron, B.Comm (Hons) 1992, will be the luncheon’s keynote speaker. After graduating from the Asper School of Business in 1992 Laurie began her career with the Winnipeg Jets and spent three years facilitating corporate partnerships, game day event promotions, and brand marketing. Her work at the Jets continued until they moved to Phoenix, at which point she moved to continue her sports marketing career with the League Office in Toronto. Today, Laurie is the Vice President, Integrated Marketing for the NHL. Her current responsibilities include optimizing the League’s marketing and promotional platforms through the development of national programs, partner activations at League events and special projects focusing on opportunities to grow League revenues. These initiatives include working with key partners such as Bell and LG in the League’s digital media space to further the NHL’s technology platform. Additionally, Laurie works with all thirty NHL clubs to improve overall business practices and strategic policies.

The Bachelor of Commerce Luncheon is part one of your two-part I. H. Asper School of Business welcome and orientation. The following day, on September 7th, the Commerce Students’ Association will host “Buddy Day”, a full day of exploration and entertainment within the I.H. Asper School of Business alongside your fellow students. You will be contacted later in the this month with more “Buddy Day” details.
On September 6th you will take your first step into a larger world and begin your journey towards your professional life. You will join a community of hundreds of students, staff and faculty and thousands of alumni of the I. H. Asper School of Business. Welcome! We look forward to meeting you!
