M.Sc Admission

M.Sc. Admission Requirements

The M.Sc. program is very selective and only highly qualified applicants are admitted. The program design assumes that students have completed an honours bachelor degree (or its equivalent) in either a) management/business with a major in the same area or a similar area to that pursued in the M.Sc. or b) a degree from another Faculty with a closely related major. Before you apply to the program, do connect with a faculty member whose research interests match yours. It is a key asset in the application process to have a faculty champion for your application - having a faculty member who is already interested in you will help your application when it is presented to the admission committee.

All applicants must submit the following documents:

1) Results of a graduate aptitude test, preferably the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), with a minimum score of 550. The GRE will be accepted with a mean percentile score across the three areas similar to the current acceptable percentile level of the GMAT. GMAT and GRE scores must not be older than five years. Click here for the GMAT Web site.

2) All official transcripts of academic records, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on 4.5 scale) in the last 60 credit hours of study.  For information on the documents acceptable for assessment, please click here!

3) Results of an English language proficiency test for students who do not hold a secondary school diploma/university degree from Canada, or from one of the countries on the English Language Proficiency Test Exemption list.  Scores more than 2 years old are not acceptable.  For the list of English proficiency tests and minimum scores accepted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, please click here!

4) Three letters of recommendation from persons who are knowledgeable about the applicant's academic ability.

5) A statement of goals and interests.

Additional courses beyond the core program requirements may be required subject to the discretion of the Graduate Research Programs Committee if it is deemed that the student's undergraduate preparation is not sufficient for his/her area of specialization. For instance, a student wishing to specialize in Marketing would be expected to have taken undergraduate university courses in Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Research Methods. If the student is lacking these courses, the Graduate Research Programs Committee may require the student to take such courses to make up for this deficiency.

Application Deadline:

ALL applicants (International and Canadian)- January 10.

Applicants with documents/transcripts coming from countries outside of Canada and the USA are STRONGLY encouraged to begin submitting their application 1-2 months in advance of the January 10th deadline.  This will ensure early assessment of application documents and eligibility.

All M.Sc. students begin their program of study in September.

**All required documents must be received by the application deadline.  Incomplete applications will not be considered until all the required documents have been received.  A complete application includes all the documents listed on the checklist in the Application Forms section of this website.**

PLEASE NOTE:  Applications that are submitted, or completed after the deadline for the desired entry point are considered late applications.  Every effort will be made to consider applicants for the session of their choice, however space is limited and admission is competitive.  If we are unable to consider an applicant for the session of their choice, their application will be considered for the next available session.

All applications for admission must be submitted directly to the Faculty of Graduate Studies at:
